The University of Johannesburg is a large comprehensive university in Gauteng. It uses the standard Admission Point Score: your best 6 subjects (Life Orientation excluded) summed on the DBE 1-7 scale, maximum 42.

The University of KwaZulu-Natal is a public research university with campuses across KwaZulu-Natal. It scores your best 6 subjects (Life Orientation excluded) on a 1-8 scale, maximum 48. School quintile also weighs on selection, shown here as a note.

The University of Pretoria is a public research university in Pretoria. It uses the standard Admission Point Score: your best 6 subjects (Life Orientation excluded) summed on the DBE 1-7 scale, for a maximum of 42.

The University of the Witwatersrand is a public research university in Johannesburg. Wits uses its own weighted points scale over your best 7 subjects (Life Orientation included), with a +2 bonus for English and Mathematics at 60% and above.
