One application, several universities

DUT applies through the CAO, the Central Applications Office shared by Durban University of Technology, the University of KwaZulu-Natal, Mangosuthu University of Technology and the University of Zululand. One CAO form and one administration fee can carry choices at several of those institutions, which makes it the cheapest way to spread your risk across KwaZulu-Natal.

The catch is that CAO closing dates are set per programme, not per university, so two choices on the same form can have different deadlines. Check the date for each programme you list.

Always confirm before you rely on a date

Universities change closing dates, and many close applications early once a programme is full. Some also stop taking applications for individual programmes while the general window is still open. Treat every date here as a prompt to check the official portal, not as a guarantee that you still have time.

Know your DUT score before you apply

DUT adds your top six subjects (Life Orientation excluded) on the standard 1-7 scale for a maximum of 42. In DUT's own words, levels of achievement are calculated for the top six subjects, excluding Life Orientation since it is not a 20-credit subject.
